Matchmaker Band takes pride in having the absolute best vocalists in the state of Texas on our team. Every member of the band makes the band special - from the four front-line singers every night all the way to our phenomenal lighting directors and sound techs behind the scenes. But we know you and your guests will be watching our singers more than anyone else in the band. They get to share the most special moments of your night with you, connecting with you and your guests in a multitude of ways. They sing your special first dance song, they bring you up on stage, they do the “Proud Mary” dance with your bridesmaids, they start a soul train with your grandpa, they bring your brothers up to karaoke “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The entire band makes the magic, but the majority of your memories will, without a doubt, be with our singers. So, let’s help you get to know them a little bit better.
Meet Lisbett. Lisbett has been singing with Matchmaker Band for two years now. She moved to Austin, TX from Havana, Cuba, and joined Matchmaker Band almost immediately. Lisbett had just completed competing on a variety of Latin television shows including “The New Voice” (Cuba), which she won in 2010, “The Voice” (in Ecuador), where she was a top finalist, and “Fabrica de Divas”, which she also won. She was also performing as the main showgirl for Puerto Rican salsa singer Jerry Rivera. She is one of the top talented Latin singers and performers out there. Once we heard her sing, we knew she would be a perfect match for our Matchmaker Band family.
Here’s a little more about Lisbett:
Q: What is your favorite part about singing with Matchmaker Band?
A: “What I like the most about working with the Matchmaker Band is the talent that all my teammates have. With each performance, I learn something new from every person on stage with me. It is like a big family, and that is really reflected on stage.”
Q: What is your favorite song to sing with Matchmaker Band?
A: “‘I’m Coming Out/Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems Mash-Up’” by Diana Ross and The Notorious BIG.”
Q: What is your favorite part about performing at a wedding?
A: “Performing for someone’s wedding is a huge responsibility. It’s that ONE moment that someone has been waiting for all their life, and there will be no other moment like it. That is why I love doing this job. Because I know that I am being part of that dream that someone has had since childhood. I love listening to each father / mother / brother / friend bless the bride and groom in their new life, and I love being a part of the unforgettable dance and music party that follows.
Q: What is a fun fact about you?
A: “It has been too challenging for me to work surrounded by people who only speak English and excessively fast (only Spanish is spoken at home). I understand everything they tell me, my brain processes quickly when they speak to me, but when I try to respond, I forget all the words. And so I have lost thousands of conversations because people think I don't want to talk to them, and the truth is that I'm only looking for the words :). Most of the time I can only say, "Thank you."
