Gil Del Bosque, saxophonist for Matchmaker Band, is a passionate musician and family man from Brownsville, Texas. He pursued an education in jazz at the University of North Texas, known for their jazz program and Grammy nominated ensembles. Gil's biggest influences include Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Lenny Pickett, Mike Brecker, Joe Henderson, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, and the Beatles. Gil loves making music with great friends and began performing at the early age of 12. At weddings and private parties, he feeds off the energy of the crowd, contributing to the excitement with his own unique style.
Gil has performed with jazz artist Chris Potter, drummer Mike Clarke (drummer for Herbie Hancock), Pete Rodriguez, Luis Perdomo, Rudy Royston, Ricky Rodriguez, Debbie Boone, Olga Tannon, and many more. He has even shared the stage with Boys II Men and Lyle Lovett!
Gil loves to teach and perform. His side projects keep him more than busy which include Gil Del Bosque Quintet, Pete Rodriguez Quintet, Adrian Ruiz Quintet, Mr. Fabulous, Beto y los Fairlanes as well as subbing in some of Austin's most popular bands. When he’s not performing, he loves spending time with his family and his beloved dogs.
